Upstand

A vertical section of material, such as a pipe or a splashback, that rises from a horizontal surface. In plumbing, an upstand can refer to a pipe that extends vertically from a floor or wall connection. It often serves to protect the wall from splashes or to provide a mounting point for fixtures.
