WAP
Term · Industrial and trades · MLC-T-IND-006513
A networking hardware device, known as a Wireless Access Point, that allows other Wi-Fi devices to connect to a wired network. A WAP connects to a router, switch, or hub via an Ethernet cable and projects a Wi-Fi signal to a designated area. Unlike a wireless router, which manages the local network and connects to the internet, a standalone access point only bridges the gap between wireless and wired local area networks.
