Woodblock

A block of wood with an image or text carved in relief, used for printing by applying ink to the raised surfaces and pressing it onto paper or fabric. This ancient printing technique allows for the reproduction of images and text. Woodblock printing was a precursor to movable type and remains an artistic medium.
