Ceded premiums

The portion of gross premiums that a primary insurer pays to a reinsurer in exchange for transferring a portion of its insurance risks. These premiums represent the cost of reinsurance coverage for the ceding company. Ceded premiums reduce the primary insurer's net premium written and its exposure to potential losses.
