Hostile fire

Term · Insurance and risk management · MLC-T-INS-001750

A fire that escapes its intended confines or originates from an unintended source, causing damage. This type of fire is covered by standard property insurance policies, as it represents an uncontrolled and destructive event. In contrast, a 'friendly fire' remains within its intended boundaries, such as a fireplace, and typically does not trigger coverage for damage unless it causes smoke or soot damage outside its containment.
