The systematic application of principles and practices to anticipate, recognize, evaluate, and control environmental factors or stresses arising in or from the workplace. These factors can cause sickness, impaired health and well-being, or discomfort among workers or citizens of the community. Controls include engineering solutions, administrative procedures, and personal protective equipment to mitigate hazards.
