Occupational manual

A publication that classifies occupations based on their inherent risk of injury or illness, used by workers' compensation insurers to assign appropriate premium rates. Each classification code corresponds to a specific industry or job function and reflects the historical loss experience for that type of work. The National Council on Compensation Insurance (NCCI) publishes and maintains such manuals in many states.
