Tolling a statute of limitations

The temporary suspension or delay of the period within which legal action must be initiated, as prescribed by a statute of limitations. This interruption can occur due to specific circumstances, such as the plaintiff's minority, mental incapacity, or the defendant's absence from the jurisdiction. Once the condition causing the tolling ends, the statutory period resumes counting from where it left off.
