Accomplice witness

An individual who testifies in a criminal trial and admits to having participated in the crime with the defendant. The testimony of such a witness is often viewed with suspicion by courts due to potential motives for self-preservation or leniency. Many jurisdictions require corroboration of an accomplice's testimony for a conviction.
