Accumulation trust

A type of trust where the trustee is directed or permitted to retain and accumulate income generated by the trust assets, rather than distributing it immediately to the beneficiaries. The accumulated income is then added to the trust's principal. Distribution of both income and principal typically occurs at a later specified date or upon the happening of a certain event, such as a beneficiary reaching a particular age.
