Nondiscretionary trust

A trust in which the trustee has no power to decide how or when to distribute the trust's income or principal to the beneficiaries. The terms of the trust instrument provide explicit, mandatory instructions that the trustee must follow without exercising any personal judgment. This arrangement contrasts with a discretionary trust, where the trustee has the authority to make decisions about distributions.
