Act of nature

An event caused by natural forces, such as floods, earthquakes, or hurricanes, that could not have been reasonably foreseen or prevented by human intervention. In tort law, it can serve as a defense, absolving a party from liability if the natural event was the sole cause of damage. This concept is also known as an 'act of God' in some legal contexts.
