Act of God

An unforeseeable natural event, such as an earthquake, flood, or hurricane, that occurs without human intervention and for which no one can be held responsible. This event must be so overwhelming that it could not have been prevented by reasonable care or foresight. Contracts sometimes include clauses excusing performance due to an act of God.
