Admiralty

The body of law governing maritime commerce and navigation, including matters such as shipping, marine insurance, salvage, collisions at sea, and the rights of seamen. This jurisdiction extends to navigable waters and international waters, addressing both civil and criminal issues arising from activities on the sea. Admiralty law is largely codified in international conventions and national statutes, such as Title 46 of the United States Code.
