The act of saving property from loss or damage, especially at sea, or the property itself that has been saved. In maritime law, a reward is often granted to those who successfully save a vessel or its cargo from peril. This reward, known as a salvage award, is determined by factors such as the value of the property saved and the degree of danger involved.
