Law of admiralty

The body of law governing maritime commerce, navigation, and other activities occurring on navigable waters. This includes matters such as shipping, marine insurance, salvage, collisions at sea, and seaman's injuries. In the United States, federal courts have exclusive jurisdiction over most admiralty and maritime cases.
