Blue law

A type of law designed to restrict or ban certain activities on Sundays, often for religious or moral reasons. These statutes historically prohibited commercial transactions, entertainment, or other forms of public activity on the Sabbath. While many have been repealed or relaxed, some jurisdictions still maintain blue laws, such as those regulating alcohol sales on Sundays.
