Capitalized interest
Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-000857
Interest costs incurred during the construction or development period of a long-term asset that are added to the cost of the asset rather than being expensed immediately. This accounting practice reflects that the interest is a necessary cost to bring the asset to its intended use. Once the asset is ready for use, subsequent interest expenses are typically expensed as incurred.
