Charitable trust

A trust established for a charitable purpose, benefiting the public or a specific class of people rather than private individuals. Its assets are dedicated to activities such as poverty relief, education, religion, or other purposes beneficial to the community. Unlike private trusts, charitable trusts are not subject to the Rule Against Perpetuities and are overseen by state attorneys general.
