Public express trust

A trust intentionally created by a settlor for a charitable, educational, religious, or other purpose that benefits the public or a large segment of it, rather than specific private individuals. Unlike a private trust, it does not have ascertainable beneficiaries and can exist indefinitely. The state's Attorney General is typically empowered to enforce the terms of a public express trust on behalf of the public.
