Charitable organization

An entity formed and operated exclusively for charitable, religious, educational, scientific, or literary purposes, without private inurement. Such organizations are generally exempt from federal income tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. They must meet specific organizational and operational tests to qualify for tax-exempt status.
