Current asset

An item of value on a company's balance sheet that is expected to be sold, consumed, or converted into cash within one year or one business operating cycle, whichever is longer. Current assets include cash and cash equivalents, accounts receivable, inventory, and marketable securities. The total of these assets is a key component in calculating a company's working capital and liquidity ratios, such as the current ratio.
