Dereliction

The intentional and voluntary abandonment of property, relinquishing all rights and title with no intention of reclaiming it. In a different context, dereliction of duty is the willful or negligent failure of a person, such as a public official or military member, to perform their legal or official obligations. Property found to be derelict may become the property of the person who finds it and takes possession, subject to salvage laws or other legal claims.
