Durable power of attorney

A legal document that grants one person, the agent, the authority to act on behalf of another person, the principal, even if the principal becomes incapacitated. Unlike a regular power of attorney, its authority continues or takes effect upon the principal's mental or physical inability. This instrument remains effective until the principal's death or revocation.
