Embezzler

Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-001838

A person who commits embezzlement by fraudulently converting property that was lawfully entrusted to them, such as an employee, agent, or fiduciary who diverts funds held for another. The offense turns on the breach of trust after lawful possession rather than on an initial wrongful taking, and an intention to repay the money later is generally not a defense.
