Entrapment

A defense in criminal law where a defendant claims that law enforcement induced them to commit a crime they would not have otherwise committed. To establish entrapment, the defendant must show both government inducement and a lack of predisposition to commit the crime. This defense aims to prevent police from manufacturing crime rather than detecting it.
