Extermination

Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-002010

The killing of people on a mass scale, which international criminal law treats as a crime against humanity when committed as part of a widespread or systematic attack on a civilian population. It also covers deliberately imposing living conditions, such as withholding food and medicine, aimed at destroying part of that population. Unlike genocide, it does not require intent to destroy a protected national, ethnic, racial, or religious group.
