Genocide
Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-002306
A distinct international crime consisting of acts committed with intent to destroy, in whole or in part, a national, ethnic, racial or religious group. The acts listed in the 1948 Genocide Convention include killing members of the group, causing serious bodily or mental harm, imposing conditions meant to bring about its physical destruction, preventing births, and forcibly transferring children. It is treated as separate from crimes against humanity and war crimes, and the specific intent to destroy the group is what distinguishes it.
