War crime

A serious violation of the laws of war, also known as international humanitarian law, committed during an armed conflict. These acts include atrocities against civilians, prisoners of war, or cultural property, such as murder, torture, or destruction of non-military targets. The Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court lists specific acts that constitute war crimes, including willful killing and extensive destruction of property not justified by military necessity.
