Health care fraud

The intentional deception or misrepresentation made by an individual or entity with the knowledge that the deception could result in some unauthorized benefit to themselves or some other person. This can include billing for services not rendered, upcoding, or providing unnecessary medical services. Health care fraud is a serious crime punishable by fines and imprisonment under federal and state laws.
