Referring to a motion filed before or during trial to exclude certain evidence or testimony from being presented to the jury. The purpose of an in limine motion is to prevent the jury from hearing potentially prejudicial or inadmissible information. A judge's ruling on such a motion can significantly shape the course of a trial.
