Motion to suppress

A request made by a defendant in a criminal case to prevent certain evidence from being presented at trial. The defendant argues that the evidence was obtained in violation of their constitutional rights, such as through an illegal search or seizure. If granted, the evidence cannot be used by the prosecution.
