Motion for summary judgment

A request made by a party in a lawsuit asking the court to rule in their favor without a full trial. This motion asserts that there are no genuine disputes of material fact and that the moving party is entitled to a favorable judgment as a matter of law. If granted, the case or a specific issue within it is resolved without proceeding to a jury or bench trial.
