Motion for judgment as a matter of law

A request made by a party in a jury trial, either before the case is submitted to the jury or after the jury has rendered a verdict, asking the judge to rule in their favor. This motion asserts that no reasonable jury could have reached a different conclusion based on the evidence presented. It is governed by Rule 50 of the Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
