NOV (non obstante veredicto)

A judgment entered by a court for one party, notwithstanding the finding of a jury verdict in favor of the other party. This occurs when the court determines that the jury's verdict is not supported by the evidence or is contrary to law. A motion for NOV is typically filed after the jury has rendered its decision but before the judgment is entered.
