Jus tertii

The right of a third party, often invoked as a defense in property law where a defendant claims that a third party, not the plaintiff, has a better title to the property in dispute. This defense asserts that the plaintiff does not have sufficient title to sue. It is frequently encountered in actions for conversion or trespass to goods.
