Trespass to chattels

An intentional interference with another person's lawful possession of personal property, without their consent. This interference can involve dispossessing the owner, using the chattel without permission, or damaging it. Unlike conversion, trespass to chattels generally involves a lesser degree of interference, where the harm is less than the full value of the property.
