Leading question

A question posed to a witness during a trial or deposition that suggests the desired answer or puts words into the witness's mouth. Such questions are generally prohibited during direct examination but permitted during cross-examination. Federal Rule of Evidence 611(c) governs the use of leading questions in federal courts.
