Lien creditor

A creditor who has obtained a legal claim or right against a debtor's property to secure payment of a debt. This status is typically achieved by obtaining a judgment and then levying on the debtor's assets or by filing a financing statement under the Uniform Commercial Code. A lien creditor has priority over certain other creditors in the event of the debtor's insolvency.
