Limitation of actions

A statutory period within which a plaintiff must bring a lawsuit after a cause of action arises. If a claim is not filed within this prescribed time, it is generally barred, regardless of its merits. These statutes of limitations vary depending on the type of legal claim, such as contract disputes, personal injury, or property damage.
