Mediation

A process of alternative dispute resolution where a neutral third party facilitates communication and negotiation between disputing parties to reach a mutually acceptable settlement. The mediator does not impose a decision but guides the parties toward their own resolution. This method is frequently used in family law, contract disputes, and labor relations.
The alternative dispute resolution (ADR) method most commonly used in the district courts. Mediation is an informal process in which a mediator facilitates negotiations between the parties to help them resolve their dispute. See alternative dispute resolution.
