Mental competence

The ability of an individual to understand the nature and consequences of their actions, particularly in legal contexts. This assessment determines if a person can make rational decisions, understand court proceedings, or enter into contracts. Competence is often evaluated by medical professionals and is a prerequisite for many legal actions.
