Metes and bounds

A method of describing land boundaries by reference to natural landmarks, artificial monuments, and courses and distances. This system uses precise directions and measurements, starting from a known point of beginning and following a sequence of calls that define the perimeter of the property. It is a traditional method of land description commonly used in the original thirteen colonies and states that were not part of the Public Land Survey System.
