Metes and bounds

A method of describing land parcels by referencing natural or artificial monuments, courses (directions), and distances. The description starts at a known point of beginning and follows the boundaries of the property by specifying the direction and length of each segment. This system is commonly used in the original thirteen colonies and other older parts of the United States.
