Narcotics

A class of drugs that dull the senses, relieve pain, and induce sleep, primarily including opiates and opioids such as morphine, heroin, and fentanyl. In a legal context, the term is often used more broadly to encompass many controlled substances beyond the strict pharmacological definition, including stimulants or hallucinogens. The possession, manufacture, and distribution of these substances are regulated under laws such as the Controlled Substances Act in the United States.
