Controlled substance analogue

A substance that is substantially similar in chemical structure to a controlled substance, or that has a substantially similar stimulant, depressant, or hallucinogenic effect on the central nervous system. These substances are often designed to mimic the effects of illegal drugs while circumventing existing drug laws. Federal law treats analogues as Schedule I controlled substances if intended for human consumption.
