Nolo

A shortened form of nolo contendere, a plea in a criminal case where the defendant does not admit guilt but accepts the punishment. This plea has the same immediate effect as a guilty plea for sentencing purposes. It is often used to avoid the plea being used as an admission of guilt in subsequent civil litigation.
