Permanent disability

A physical or mental impairment that is expected to last for the remainder of an individual's life and significantly limits their ability to perform major life activities or engage in gainful employment. This condition is often assessed by medical professionals and can qualify an individual for disability benefits or workers' compensation. The Social Security Administration defines disability as the inability to engage in any substantial gainful activity due to a medically determinable impairment.
