Pur autre vie

Term · Law · MLC-T-LAW-004040

A type of life estate where the duration of the estate is measured by the life of a person other than the grantee. For example, a grant to A for the life of B means A's interest in the property ends when B dies. This interest can be inherited by A's heirs if A dies before B, but it still terminates upon B's death.
