To voluntarily leave or abandon a place, position, or legal right. In employment law, an employee quits by resigning from a job, which can affect their eligibility for unemployment benefits depending on the circumstances. In property law, a notice to quit is a formal demand from a landlord for a tenant to vacate the premises, often as a precursor to eviction proceedings.
